Is anyone interested in a book trade? I'd like to trade this book, Sew & Stow by Betty Oppenheimer (sorry for lack of picture, but it's 11pm and I need to get to bed:) It's brand new, but I don't have the receipt for it - hence the trade. I'd be willing to trade for:
Pieced Curves So Simple by Dale Fleming
Weekend Sewing by Heather Ross
Seams to Me by Anna Maria Horner
Just thought I'd put this out there...ok, now I can go to bed!

I really don't know if my daughter has enough baby hats:) Don't you just love babies in hats?! I swear since she's been born I have made her soooo many hats. She's getting better at not ripping them off her head! I guess that's good because the sunny weather is now upon us and she needs to wear one. Good for the Soul
PTQB - May 2009 Block (Colleen's)
Colleen said she likes white space, skinny pieces, blocks within blocks, right angles, squares....and here is what I came up with! I hope she likes it. It allowed me to try some new things - strips within the blocks ala Denyse Schmidt. I can't wait to see what Colleen's quilt will look like at the end. The colours are bold and the prints are graphic..I love it!

Allison's May Block
Ah, the joys of curved piecing! I thought I was doing really well until I tried to match up the bottom seam....Well, all I can say is I tried:) Hopefully this imperfection will diappear with quilting. One trick that Allison mentioned was to square up the first block and then place each additional block on top to square them up so the seams match. I did do that and thought things were going well until I went to sew them up. You learn something new everyday!! This quilt is going to look great I'm sure!! Can't wait to see the results!

Saying Goodbye
I hate saying goodbye...it is so hard. My beloved Grandmother passed away on Thursday morning. She was only 80 years old. She was the best Grandma anyone could ask for. She was sweet, cute, so kind - I miss her in so many ways. We had a special relationship. I'm so grateful for the time we did have together...I'm trying to focus on this right now because I was doing a lot of "if only" when I learned the news. My husband came to tell me at work..I took one look at his face and thought...who is it? My Mom? His Mom? I just wasn't prepared to hear that my Grandma died that morning. I had just said to my Mom the night before that we needed to get her seen again by the specialist. Well, I need to accept that it was part of a bigger plan and I had no control over it. I can only remember our love for one another and let it bring me comfort in the days ahead. Thanks for listening - to anyone reading this. Have a good night!

String Quilt - My New WIP
Inspired by Ashley's Kaleidoscope quilt , I got busy over the last few days and started cutting up my scraps. I paper pieced these blocks which has been such a breeze - I actually used grocery flyers as my paper because I ran out of copy paper. It worked fine - mind you I haven't taken the paper off the back yet:) I thought this was a good WIP as I can just make blocks as I go. It definitely is busy with all of the different prints and colours, but I guess that's the point! It will be my first lap quilt for the family! Can't wait! Will keep you posted.
Happy Mother's Day to everyone!!

PTQB - Erin's Block - April
I'm caught up! I made Erin's block which she titled "Rectangles and Squares." I really like her choice of fabrics and colours. I really have enjoyed being a part of the Pieced Together Quilting Bee as it allows me to try new techniques and keeps me sewing....even though I was up late last night and am now paying for it with getting up with my little one this morning! She's had a runny nose for a week, not to mention cutting 4 teeth....:)
