Momo Wonderland - Baby Quilt

Ashley from FilmintheFridge made several versions of a Momo Wonderland charm square quilt last summer which I thought were really adorable. You can find a pic here. I recently purchased some charm packs and decided to whip up another baby quilt. It was awesome...came together really quickly on Saturday...and by Sunday evening Little Miss G had another little "blankie." I got to practice my machine binding (which turned out pretty good) and my walking foot for my machine. It was fun to quilt using straight lines for a change instead of stippling.
Grandma and Grandpa are up visiting tonight and they brought some more fabric for me....yeh! I can finally finish my little rag quilt and take it on our trip to Florida. We might need it because it looks a little chilly there...but hey, it's better than snow!
If anyone has any tips on great quilting stores in the Orlanda/Daytona Beach area, please let me know because I hope to do some shopping:)

Plain Spoken Quilt

I've had this book for a while now and have been admiring this pattern so when I saw EmptyBobbins version, I fell in love with it! I contacted EmptyBobbins and mentioned I would like to replicate her version for my daughter. Voila, here is what I've come up with so far. I'm not sure about the mustard color but overall I think it's very sweet. Definitely "springy" in colors! I can't wait to quilt it as I love circles in quilts. I think EmptyBobbins circular quilting is amazing so I'm hoping to learn a new quilting skill:) I'm sure once I have it down pat, I will be quilting a lot of my quilts like this!

Anyhooo...little Miss G is still sick and now she's passed her lovely little germs to me:( It sucks! Back to the couch I go.

Inspiration

Just a short post today as my little one is home sick today. Fevers are just not fun and especially as this is my first child...can be scary sometimes. I think we're over the hump now but it just breaks my heart to see her sleeping and so congested! Will spring ever get here??!!! I can't wait!

On another note, here are some recent purchases which have really inspired me. These little lovelies arrived not too long ago and it felt like Christmas morning! I'm a book lover to say the least.

Modern quilts made from solids are a fav of mine. I hope to make a few this year!!

Blankie

A blogger friend, Sewshesews, had made her daughter the cutest little dresses. The pattern is from LeilaandBen. I whipped this up in a night...so, so easy (excuse the pun:) Little Miss G kept calling it her "blankie" all night long! She wouldn't keep still enough for me to take her picture but I managed to get a few shots.

As for other projects, I'm still waiting on some fabric so I can finish my Fresh Cut Rag Quilt. I just love the softness of the colours. I'm not sure how big I'm going to make it yet so I just keep adding squares. I think that's my biggest problem with quilting. I always want to make things so big so it takes me a while to get it done!

For Valentine's Day my hubby said I can order some fabric...so I'm going to peruse a few sites tonight and see what's out there!

I just wanted to say thank you to those who comment - I'm not always so good about getting back to people but I absolutely appreciate your thoughts - and for you taking the time to visit my blog:) Sometimes I feel like no one is "out there" per se....I'm sure anyone who blogs must feel like that at times. However, I have to say, blogging has inspired me to be more creative and this in turn has allowed me to be in touch with others who share the same passion...so it's definitely worth it!!!

Ciao for now!

Fresh Cut Rag Quilt

I've had some Fresh Cut (Heather Bailey) lying around for ages but I just couldn't decide what to make with it. I've noticed rag quilts before but had never made one. I had an idea on how to do it, but I thought I would purchase a pattern from here and support a fellow blogger!

What I love about it is that it comes together so quickly which satisfies my impatience:) I love to see results! Unfortunately, I'm missing two prints so I'm hoping to swap with someone if I can! Please check out my flickr pic for a description if you're interested. I don't list all of my fabrics for swap in my set so don't be afraid to ask for a certain fabric...I'm building up quite a stash:) In fact, I think you can now call me a fabriholic as I'm getting to be addicted but that's a whole other story!!

Hope your weekend is going well!
