Freshcut Stacked Coins

I've had some Freshcut fabric (precut squares) lying around so I thought it was time to actually do something with it. I am determined to go through my stash and be creative! You'll have to excuse the photo...didn't have much time to take a good one as my little one was calling!

Head over to greenakerscreations.blogspot.com for a great monkey hooded towel giveaway!!!

Knitting Needle Roll & Obama

Yeh!! I finally made a knitting needle roll. One of my New Year's Resolutions is to become more organized and this will certainly help me to do so! I used the tutorial at lupinbunny.blogspot.com - just made a few modifications and voila - a great little needle roll! It's pretty heavy - so sturdy and soft - with all of the lining. I love this fabric too...now, no excuses to not stay organized.
It's a wonder I was able to complete this as I was riveted to the tv with Obama's inauguration. Change has come!!

pieced together quilting bee badge

I'm so excited - I've joined my first official virtual quilting bee...can't wait to see what we create!

work in progress

I always have so many projects on the go...if I'm not sewing, then I'm knitting - especially baby hats for my daughter. Of course, she always manages to pull them off, but I still try!!:) I'm obsessed...I think I've made her something like 8 hats in the past few months. I thought I would try making a baby cocoon to take pictures in. I had professional shots of her done in a cocoon when she was first born and they are adorable.

Project Improv - Pink/Orange Block

I love how my first improvised block turned out. I definitely enjoyed the process of just "winging it" as I went along...so freeing compared to cutting precisely. I can get lost and paralyzed by decisions about fabric so I just decided to put this aside and sew as I go!! I'm thrilled with the results!

I'm not one who likes to measure so I think this method is for me! Better than overanalyzing which is what I tend to do - and then nothing gets done.

I'm so inspired by all of the blocks that are being posted on flickr. I would definitely welcome any feedback about mine.

Project Improv!

I'm so excited about getting involved in Project Improv! Jacquie is organizing it here..http://tallgrassprairiestudio.blogspot.com/. Consider joining...not only will you be able to improve your quilting and experiment with improvisation, but will also be able to work on a charity quilt. Each participant, if interested, can donate one 12.5" improvised log cabinish block which will eventually be made into a quilt and donated. What a great idea! There are already over 70 people signed up.

I've always wanted to go to a Denyse Schmidt workshop, but until then, I am looking forward to the opportunity to work with all of you and see what we create!

I'm still trying to get this whole blog thing down, so please bear with me!

My First Quilt

I'd like to start my blog with a picture of my first quilt which was a gift for my mother this Christmas. I used the Scrappy Circles pattern from http://carolinapatchworks.com/. I'm not sure of the colours but I love the design.
