PTQB - June Block for Stephanie

I finished Stephanie's spider web block this afternoon. I absolutely loved working with her choice of fabrics. How nice is that Robert Kaufman linen-cotton mix for the kite....beautiful. I can't wait to see the finished product!

I Love A Pieced Back

I'm in limbo right now because I want to finish my quilt back but I don't have my fabric yet. I should be getting my batting on Monday from my Mom so that will be good. However, I do have my back completely planned in my mind. I took a few minutes today to add some white sashing to my leftover strips. At first I thought I would orient the strip across the width but I think now I'm going to have it run vertically. I'll be using Amy Butler Full Moon Dots in Orange for the rest of the back...and the binding - I want some sort of stripe so I think I'll be using her Midwest Modern Orange Dahlia ripple stripe. So in the meantime, I'm going to enjoy this beautiful sunny day - hope you are too!

Quilt top - Check....Almost!

Well I've been busy sewing and finally finished my last row tonight....all I have to do now is sew the rows together and my quilt top will be finished. I still have some ideas about the pieced back and want to incorporate the extra strips left over from the top. I'll have to order more fabric. I would love to win Dana's recent giveaway which is to have the quilting done by The Backporch Quilters....that would be awesome! I plan on sewing the rest of the top tomorrow. I have always loved oranges, pinks and reds together...the inspiration was from my Pieced Together Quilting partner, Michelle...I simply added the Amy Butler Wallflower, Garden Maze, Joel Dewberry Aviary, Heather Ross Kelp Stripe, Sandy Gervais print and the Denyse Schmidt one (cannot remember the name of it...that's terrible, but it's late right now and I still have some work to do tonight:( Until then!

Old Red Barn Co. Quilt-Along

From Tuesday to now I've made huge progress. I've cut all of my fabric into 2.5 inch strips, sewing them all together, ironed it, cut them into 12 inch squares and managed to get my first row together! I was busy from Friday night on....and taking care of my 14 month old daughter....and managed to buy my husband an awesome early Father's day present! We said we weren't going to have a tv in our bedroom, but I broke down and bought us a 22 inch LG flatscreen tv. I can't tell you how nice it is with the breeze coming into our bedroom, our daughter asleep in the next room and watching a little television after a long day!
I'm still behind all of you yet...but I'm catching up. I can't believe how huge this quilt is going to be. This is definitely my biggest! It's 6x7 blocks - I was able to get 42 blocks in total out of my fabric. I did incorporate the Amy Butler garden maze afterall and did't use the Erin McMorris. Thanks for everyone's input. The garden maze is a little more unexpected and gives it a little pop which I like. I can't even think of quilting this one...and have to start think of the back and piecing it! I think I'm going to have to order more fabric.

Fabric Choices - Help!! (Old Red Barn Co. Quilt-along)

Okay, so I am seriously behind with the Old Red Barn Co. Quilt-along but I am determined to catch up and make a beautiful quilt....only thing is - I need help with my fabric choices/colours! Pinks and oranges have been my choice, but unfortunately when I ordered some of the Lizzy House Red Letter Day fabric in Feather, the colours do not match. It's so hard to tell online...so I had to dig into my stash and found the Denyse Schmidt print...however don't have a complete 1/2 yard but really close. I'm unsure of the Sandy Gervais print (2nd last one on top right of the picture) and definitely unsure of the Amy Butler garden maze (bottom middle) as it has greens in it and it might stand out too much? I need your help! I also purchased some of the Erin McMorris print but the pink is a bit off (bottom left)....I honestly get too caught up in my fabric choices....So what do I do? Which one of the bottom three would you use: Heather Ross, Amy Butler or Erin McMorris? Please comment soon so I can get busy sewing!!! Thanks!!

Amy Butler Swing Bag

I decided to go with the Swing Bag instead of the Everything Bag - simply as I didn't have enough fabric for the latter. I'm happy with the results! It screams little kid, but I think it's cute!! I'm still deciding whether to put in a closure/snap (cannot think of the proper word for the life of me!!) or not...I also have to handstitch the opening to finish it off...I added a pocket that's divided in three (it's perfect for bottles). Well that's all I have for now. My fabric for the Old Red Barn Co. quilt a-long arrives tomorrow so I'll be busy catching up. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Works in Progress - Fabric Goodness

I am so excited to get the new Heather Ross book - Weekend Sewing! I recently saw her on Martha Stewart where she made a little girl's smock dress. I knew I had to make one for my 14 month old daughter. It didn't take me long to order some Mendocino fabric!! That's on my to do list.
Another thing I want to make is the Amy Butler Swing Bag - I have her book Little Stitches for Little Ones and recently came across this picture and thought this would be a great bag to tote along to my daughter's day care because I'm always hauling around extra diapers, bottles, food, etc. You get the picture! Jessica did such a great job on it! Her fabric choices were perfect! Now all I have to do is figure out which bag to make...the Swing Bag or Everything Bag. I already have the fabric.
I've already been blogging about my String Quilt - I needed more fabric so I jumped online again and ordered some more...Joel Dewberry, Amy Butler, Denyse Schmidt etc. Need I say more?
Last but not least is I want to join Dana (and all of you) with the quilt along at Old Red Barn Co...my fabric is on its way...needless to say I'll have to catch up...
Now, when to do all of this when I work full time and my little one doesn't usually go to bed until after 9pm??!! Sigh...

Baby Cover Contest

Our photographer emailed us tonight and said she had placed our daughter's picture in the running for a local cover contest - for a New Parent Resource Guide (2010). How cool is that?! Apparently you can vote once a day for the month of June and they will pick a winner in early July!! Here is the link if you are interested! Her cover is number 4. I know I know, I'm a proud Mama...I can't help myself!!!Thanks everyone!
