Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day

Starting December 13th, it's Giveaway Day at Sew Mama Sew - I'm happy to participate in this year's giveaways. Up for grabs is a car seat cover for the little one in your life and a nursing cover. As you can tell by my posts (for those of you who are dropping by for the first time), I recently gave birth to a baby girl 3 weeks ago. My husband and I opted not to find out the sex of the baby - so I crazily made almost two of everything to be prepared:) You can read about the making of these items in these posts - here and here.. They are very practical and make nice gifts as well!! I use my "girl versions" all of the time!!

I'll draw two winners on Friday, December 17th at noon EST. Don't forget to leave your email/way to get in contact with you! To keep it interesting, I'd love to hear your suggestions/links to your favourite baby patterns - whether knitting or sewing = hats, sweaters, quilts, you name it, I'm interested!! I'm happy to ship internationally.

Thank you for taking the time to drop by my little corner of the world! Hope to see you again (feel free to become a follower) and I'll definitely check out your blogs as well!

  47. I'm having a boy in April, I could use either one of these items! And you two are saints if you could stand to wait.. I couldn't stand waiting at all with my pregnancies! I HAVE NO PATIENCE!

Congratulations on your beautiful little girl... I've got two and while I'm excited to have a boy, I cherish my daughters!

As far as my favorite baby patterns for sewing.. I haven't really come across anything other that completely struck out, although I did go crazy for Anna Maria Horner's book entitled "Handmade Beginnings" it has some cute toy patterns, as well as patterns for Momma pre and post pregnancy and diaper bag patterns. And of course fun patterns for baby!

Another pattern that caught my interest is one from Made By Rae.. it's called "Big Butt Baby Pants" and it's a cute pant pattern catered for Cloth diapered baby butts, however it can be modified for disposable diapered babies.. here's the link http://www.made-by-rae.com/2010/08/big-butt-baby-pants-sewing-pattern.html it's $10, but in my opinion SO worth it having a tried and tested pattern for babies! and it's a gender neutral pattern too.

I did not find out the sex with my littlest one, so I had alot of girly things to gift away! I'm not finding out this go round either, and I'm looking forward to the stockpile of items for charity and quick baby shower gifts, lol!
My favorite children's items are any of Susan B. Anderson's patterns and any of the Spud and Chloe line!

  50. Congratulations on the new baby girl. She looks so sweet.

My favorite baby gifts to give are homemade receiving blankets. When my daughter was born, we found all the store bought blankets to be too small to swaddle her in easily, so I made a bunch of bigger ones and we really liked them. Since then I've been giving them away as gifts and everybody likes them. It's easy, I just take two pieces of flannel fabric, one with cute baby prints and the other coordinating solid. I embroider on the solid side, in the corners, with designs that match the prints and the baby's initials (these are so useful if you go to daycare), then sew two sides together with decorative stitches, and viola.

  107. Congratulations on your new little one! And thank you for sharing goodies, too. :)

I'm not certain of my favorite link for baby items. It's a tough call. I have some really talented friends who create things, and Etsy is always fun to browse for ideas. For quilts and quilty goodness, Elizabeth Hartman of Oh, Fransson! is typically where I start.

My daughter is five months old and I haven't used a pattern for anything for her yet. i've just eyeballed and tested and patterned things on my own. (Though I do have an Elizabeth Hartman quilt int he works.)
